Gemini is the 3rd sign in the zodiac with dates in late spring May 21-June 20. Ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, messages, speed and travel, Gemini is a mutable air sign with the twins being its symbol. Gemini’s mutability allows them to be adaptable and flexible, and they are known to be the zodiacs communicators, and quick thinkers.
The symbol of the twins represents their dualism and their ability to flip between contradictory personality traits in seconds. They are the life and soul of a party, and can be gregarious, fun loving and flirty, often rapidly flitting their way around a crowd, giving them the reputation of being the zodiac’s social butterfly. In an instant, however, they can quickly change to being introverted and quiet, needing their alone time and feeling hemmed in by a crowd. Geminis are centered in their very inquisitive minds, perpetually thinking and absorbing copious amounts of information and ideas, making them incredibly quick and witty, imaginative and intelligent. They are wonderful communicators and writers, excelling at debating and exchanging views and opinions. Because of this, they may need to be aware of appearing as someone who knows it all and allow for others’ views and opinions to be expressed. Their innate curiosity gives them an unusual thirst for knowledge and an expansively open mind. Because their energy is fast and fluid, they do not like to be confined or restricted and value their freedom to move as they wish, when they want.
The dual aspect of a Gemini, however, not only manifests itself as changeable, but it can make them sometimes restless, erratic and unpredictable. Since their energy is very much focused in their minds, they can appear to be a little top heavy, with their thoughts in the clouds, making them ungrounded and unreliable at times.
Those born under the Gemini sign are often youthful, playful and lighthearted – charming all that come into their orbit. They are deeply affectionate, and although not as emotional as the water signs, have the ability to feel into their depths without losing their natural logical and analytical strengths. A Gemini person is the most colorful, light and airy sign of the zodiac reflecting beautifully the late springs bountiful blooms and swiftness of the season’s garden birds and butterflies we so much love to be around.
