There are many a post or meme about the importance of Gratitude. Its a buzz word in the holistic, spiritual and psychological road to contentment, peace and wellness. Most people have felt it, showed and practiced it at some time and some may practice it sporadically here and there. Few however practice it regularly so that it becomes a daily exercise like cleaning their teeth and washing their face.

If you have never believed in magic, then you need to try a little sprinkle of gratitude. For me, practicing gratitude as much as possible has always proven, without doubt, to bring a little bit of magic to ones life.

The premise is simple. We think and then we feel the emotion/feeling of gratitude and appreciation for something in our life. In turn the universe, made up of only energy and vibration, receives YOUR vibration of gratitude, and returns it in like. As many have heard before, the more you have to be grateful for, the more things to be grateful for, come your way. But thats not it’s only magic. The other magical gift gratitude offers, for free, is to provide a beautiful contentment that settles into the bones and becomes a vibration that you wear for the days ahead. The more you practice, the more the vibration of contentment vibes a little brighter. The more you practice the more the feeling of having and being enough sits

A Sunday Thought

A Sunday thought… I was thinking today about how so many right now are so stressed with anxiety and fear, surrounded by the toxicity of hate rearing its head amidst our own communities and villages, and in our country at large. Our despair of the uncertainity with the virus coupled with intense and real fear of what this historic and momentous US election may bring…. I see people rattled with anxiety of impending doom and yet feeling and fearing a beautiful hope in the same moment. I say, that on this rainy slow Sunday, we take some time to breathe……rest and dream. For it is not in our crazed work or in our angst, that dreams come true. Instead it is in the power of our thoughts and visions and actions. This is how we raise a vibration, this is how we dream a dream into being. This is the right way to pray. There is a new beginning being birthed right now, I’ve written about it so many times over the last 5 years. Its messy and its chaotic and its painful…..but its being birthed because of our collective desire for change, peace and harmony. Its coming, but our fear can make it more painful…. I say today we take a pause, be gentle with ourselves and others, focus on that which is beautiful and light, connect with that which brings you harmony and peace and allow that to carry

Enoughness …

The struggle and the yearning to be enough to those in our lives whether it be our parents, our children, our lovers , our partners and our friends….comes from the deep dark down feeling inside us that we are not enough for ourselves. Truly feeling enough is profoundly personal …… a personal well that can only be filled by oneself , yet we can make the mistake of believing something or someone outside of ourselves will fill it for us. Feeling enough is that space where we are at peace with who we have been , who we are now and who we want to be tomorrow. Feeling enough within ourselves allows others to trust in our enoughness . Feeling enough allows others close to us to feel enough too. The ripple effect of enoughness can heal a couple , a family and a lineage . Enoughness is the well that is full of our own acceptance and allowing. Letting others know they are enough just as they are, can be the key to them finding their own enoughness. Feeling enough is the awareness that in any given moment we are connected to the infinite potential of our own soul and yet unconditionally compassionate to the fact that we may not have reached that potential yet. No drug no substance no person no creature can fill that personal well of enoughness other than the self. Enlightenment is merely the awareness of our own light …. We, as spiritual

Stripped down to our nakedness and in the glaring truth of our imperfections we all come face to face with all our cracks, dark holes, and unpolished bits. The chips and dents on our surface hide the deep well of longings churning inside all of us. We are made up of layers of wounds and battle scars intermingled with joys and delights. Our hopes and dreams, our sorrows and disappointments weaving the tapestry of our countenance. Our stories are etched into our skin and our souls beam out of our eyes revealing all of our truths. And within this bundle of broken sticks we still long to do better, to rise, to feel our wounds and fears and move right through them, witnessing all of our hurts and yet finding the light that shines within each broken piece. Compassion for ourselves holds all of our broken pieces together and we carefully try not to come undone. Our loyal heart patiently and relentlessly guides us with feelings and yearnings waiting for us to hear it, to turn away now from the fears and lies of our mind and the stories of our past. In these heart whispers we find the courage to take another chance, face a fear, turn another corner, walk through another door and gently open ourselves up to love within ourselves and others, as we all walk along our path bravely in our beautiful brokenness…© Jo Jayson

Kali-Ma- The Dark Mother © Jo Jayson 2015

For many of us around the world, these are times of great upheaval, chaos, discord and big change. Big change rarely comes without disruption to the status quo and a slow death of something that used to exist, to make way for a new beginning…..a new way.

This is the Time of Kali…

It’s almost two years ago that I painted Kali, and at the same time in a universally synchronized confirmation of my own intuitions, Kali-Ma’s image was projected onto the facade of the Empire States Building here in New York. Whoever decided to do that was clearly also very intuitive because since that point we have seen huge unforeseen changes, chaos and instability in our political world here and abroad and great division and tension amongst people. Kali-Ma , the revered Hindu Goddess, represents the energy of pure creation. Within this energy of creation comes destruction, darkness and the breaking down of the old. For some this is why Kali energy is often feared….but in truth, out of the darkness and destruction of the breakdown of what is, lies the powerful and nurturing aspects of rebirth and a new creation.

All of us are witnessing this outside of ourselves, and many our experiencing these changes personally in their own lives. Many relationships are coming to an end, lives are being turned upside down and many are going through transformations with the big storms of change passing through. What
